The Crestwood Curling Club in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Ice Technician. The Crestwood Curling Club has a strong membership of approximately 900 curlers, and 27 draws a week on six sheets of ice.
The successful candidate will report to the Board of Directors / Head Ice Technician and perform an assortment of ice maintenance duties to include but not limit to.
- Ice installation - Complete draw changes
- Daily maintenance (scraping, pebbling, cleaning)
- Monthly maintenance (resufacing)
- Training of ice staff
- Dealing with curlers concerns
- Maintain facility cleanliness
- Removal of ice, and proper storage of rocks
- Facility repairs as needed
- Keep simple records
This full time seasonal position commencing September - April annually, offers a competitive salary depending on experience.
Level 1 Ice Tech is preferred but willing to train the right candidate.

Business Manager, Sherwood Park Curling Club
The Sherwood Park Curling Club invites applications for the position of Business Manager. This position commences August 1st and extends through to May 31st. There will be flexible hours with more hours being worked during the curling season (some evenings and weekends) and fewer hours in the off season.
Sherwood Park is a thriving community of approximately 60,000 and growing rapidly. Being located just minutes east of Edmonton, Sherwood Park offers all the benefits of being near a major urban centre and provides all the recreational, educational and cultural activities that a family focused community needs. There are several golf courses in and around the community.
The curling club has 8 sheets of ice and a membership approaching 1200, including the junior and senior leagues. There are leagues operating in the club seven days a week from the beginning of October until the end of March.
The successful candidate must possess a strong background in management and supervisory skills. The Business Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of the club, which will include preparation and monitoring of the annual budget, supervision of the Lounge & Kitchen Manager, Ice Manager and Custodian. The duties will also include promoting and marketing the facility, and coordinating a variety of events, including Club Bonspiels as well as all events hosted for NACA and EACC.

Ice Manager, Rideau Curling Club
Located in Ottawa, Canada, the Rideau is a vibrant full-servic curling club with a large active membership of recreational and competitive curlers. We are seeking an Ice Manager who will provide top quality ice conditions efficiently and consistently, and who will communicate well with members, the Club Manager and the House and Ice Committee of the Board.
Reporting to the Curling Club Manager, the Ice Manager will be responsible for all aspects of start-up and ice preparation, rock maintenance, maintenance of the ice plant and related equipment, on-going ice cleaning and maintenance, supervision of casual and part-time assistants, plant shut-down procedures and other functions related to the cleanliness, quality and safety of the curling club's ice area. The position requires full-time commitment from September through April each year, beginning in 2008.
The successful candidate will have a Level 2 Ice Technician certificate plus 5 years of sucessful Ice Manager experience or an equivelent combination of formal training and experience. The icemaker / custodian position in Bonnyville will become available for the 2008-2009 curling season. We are hoping for an energetic, self-motivated, personable applicant to fill that position.
Experience would be an asset, however, our current icemaker / custodian would be willing to share her knowledge and work with the suiccessful applicant until the close of this season (end of March).
