FUNDING SOURCES

The NACA has conducted preliminary research on funding available to sport and recreation organizations and have listed those potential sources in this section. The NACA encourages clubs to contact the funding source prior to making submissions to ensure you have the up-to-date information/application form and that your proposal meets the funding guidelines.

Canadian Curling Association Development Fund
The Canadian Curling Association, under its event management system for the Brier, Tournament of Hearts (beginning 2002), and Canadian Curling Trials (every four years), has committed 10% of net profits from these events to promote and develop grassroots curling through the establishment of the CCA Development Fund. The Fund is accessible to curling clubs in Canada and the membership of the CCA.

Northern Alberta Curling Championship Society (NACCS)
Projects must promote curling, be directly beneficial to curling in Northern Alberta and be entrepreneurial in nature having a revenue generating plan.

Alberta Government - Alberta Lottery Fund - Community Initiatives Program (CIP)
The Community Initiatives Program will support smaller, project-based initiatives in areas such as community services, seniors' services, libraries, arts and culture, sports, education, health and recreations.

Alberta Government - Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP)
The purpose of the CFEP is to continue to improve the public-use facilities that are important to our communities. The expansion and upgrading of Alberta's extensive network of community-use facilities will continue to enrich the quality of life in our province.

The success of the program is based on grass-roots, needs-driven partnership approach to funding. Under CFEP, Albertan's have access to a matching-grant program which is responsive and relevant to their particular facility development needs.

Development Initiatives Program
Which provides support to Albertans working in the areas of sport, recreation, parks and wildlife for project and program related endeavors.

Which provides support for the development and operation of programs designed to enhance participation in sports for under-represented groups.

Alberta Government - Wild Rose Foundation
The purpose of the Wild Rose Foundation is to provide support to the volunteer sector. The quarterly grant program provides grants to registered, human-service, non-profit organizations to develop and enhance their organizational capacity. The maximum grant is $50,000 and an orgaization's community fundraising must equal the grant amount requested.

City Of Edmonton
Recreation/ Sport Operating Grants
Intended to provide "limited operating assistance to non-profit organizations of Edmonton whose programs and activities result in benefits to the City".

Hosting Grants:
To assist, through limited financial assistance, with the Hosting of Provincial, Western Canadian, National and International recreation, amateur sport or multicultural events within the City of Edmonton.

Travel Grants:
To assist residents of Edmonton to pay travel costs from Edmonton to a destination for the purpose of competing in a Western Canadian, National or International sport championship competition.

Universiade '83 Foundation Grant Program
The purpose of the Universiade '83 Foundation Grant Program is to provide project-specific grant funding assistance to Edmonton based not-for-profit groups or institutions for the purpose of advancing sport, culture and the arts in Edmonton.
