ICE TECHNICIANS PROGRAM

Without ice, there would be no curling at all - and without first class ice, there can be no first class curling.  Therefore, the quality of curling ice is important to the game and to the success of curling clubs.  The NACA has conducted Ice Schools since the early 1950's to help in the development of ice technicians.  The object is to help standardize guidelines for the installation and maintenance of great curling ice.

LEVEL 1 - The following will be covered in detail:

- Complete Installation of Curling Ice

- Maintenance of Curling Stones

- Health Hazards of Ammonia

- Fire Protection

- Water Treatment

LEVEL 2 - Operation and Control of Refrigeration (must have Level 1 Certification and at least two years experience)

LEVEL 3 - Installation of Arena Ice

The NACA conducts a Level 1 Ice Technicians School in the fall of each year.

Level 2 and 3 are held as needed.
